Crystal

Our featured pet for this week is an adorable 1-year old mixed breed named Crystal that is currently in the Mutts With Manners program.

She was surrendered to the humane society by her owner due to landlord issues. Crystal is light-boned and weighs 30 pounds. She may be part shepherd and part heeler.

This pretty girl is white and light brown in color with a short haircoat. Crystal has a sweet temperament but has been timid with new people. She is a sensitive girl but with one on one attention seems to bond quickly.

In the Mutts With Manners program Crystal will be working on lessons in basic obedience, crate-training and continued socialization. This will help boost her confidence and ready her for her permanent home. Crystal would be best suited to a quieter home with a family that will include her in daily activities and continue her training to reinforce the solid foundation she is receiving in the MWM program. With patient and consistent handling and lots of love, Crystal will reach her full potential as a devoted companion!

Crystal is scheduled to graduate from the MWM program in June, and we are currently accepting applications for her adoption. The MWM volunteers work hard to match dogs with adopters depending on the personality and needs and the adopter’s situation and expectations for a new family member.

If Crystal sounds like a great match for your family you can complete an online application at www.dbchs.org. Just click on the “Mutts With Manners” link and scroll to the bottom of the page for the adoption application. Meet and greets for Crystal and other available MWM dogs will be scheduled after completed applications are received.

May is National Pet Month. This month is dedicated to celebrating the unique and fun traits that make our pets so special to us. Pets come in many sizes and shapes and encompass many species. Whether they serve as companion, protector, comedian or confidant they enrich our lives every day and ask for little in return. So reflect this month on all that your pet means to you and be certain to provide your best friend with all that he or she needs for a happy and healthy life every day of the year.
