I would like to compliment Kathy Lucas from Middleburg and thank her for submitting her article “Talking About Freedom, Fear, Concern and Control” (weekend edition, 29-31 May).

She offers many valid points which resonate with me and the values I cherish. I agree with her comments regarding the coronavirus.

While we endured the closing of churches, schools, businesses, and nonessential medical services, abortion clinics were allowed to remain open, placing an unborn child at a 60% greater risk than a coronavirus patient. Ms. Lucas questions, and so do I, if this was genuine concern for safety or an experiment in social control.

According to verifiable statistics, deaths attributed to COVID-19 rank seventh in a list of the 10 leading causes of U.S. fatalities. She urges readers to discern the facts from the propaganda that faces us today, and states fear and lack of education have been used for millennia to control the masses.

Well said, Ms. Lucas! To add an opinion of my own, I would say we have gone from socializing to socialism in a very short time. My hope is the masses will connect the dots and vote accordingly.
