Michael H. Phillippe

1948-2020

Michael H. Phillippe, 72, of Stanford, Kentucky passed away on Sunday, June 21, 2020 at Glasgow State Nursing Facility. Born on March 3, 1948 in Kings Mountain, KY to the late Robert Hayden Phillippe and Winnie Ratliff Phillippe. He was the postmaster of Hustonville Post Office, where he retired after 32 years. He was also a member of Hustonville Baptist Church. Michael was an avid hunter, expert archer and fisherman. He was good friends with Fred Bear, who is known as a pioneer in the bow hunting community. Michael would host special archery clinics in sporting good stores where he would show off his marksmanship.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Karen Phillipe of Stanford, KY; four sisters, Rose Mary Maples (Bobby) of Stanford, KY, Sue Ann Siler (Bobby) of Crab Orchard, KY, Kathy Jo Brock (Curtis) of Stanford, KY, and Bonnie Purcell (Paul) of Richmond, KY; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Rebecca Hansel.

A one-day service has been scheduled for Thursday, June 25, 2020 at Spurlin Funeral Home Chapel, Stanford. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Spurlin Funeral Home. Funeral will begin at 11:00 a.m. with Bro. David Fralix officiating. Burial will follow at Double Springs Cemetery in Waynesburg, KY.

Active Pallbearers will be his nieces, nephews and friends.
