Our pets of the week are Chance and a trio of felines.

Chance is a 4-year-old lab/shepherd mix who loves people and wants to be loved back. This sweet boy is all about getting petted and giving kisses, and he wants to be with his people ALL the time. 

He doesn’t have a middle name, but if he did, it would be Shadow, because he is never far behind. He’s excellent with kids and enjoys playing outside as long as his people hang out with him. Otherwise, he gets lonely. 

Chance is housetrained and serious about keeping his space clean: he will only do his business in the grass. When he spends time in the humane society office, we can trust him to sniff around and know he won’t mark anywhere, which is remarkable! He will gladly let you put him on the leash to go outside, where he finds the right spot to potty. 

Chance would like a home with a fenced-in yard, and since he prefers humans over dogs, he should be the only pet. He’s a simple guy with simple needs who simply wants to be the center of your world. Chance is fixed, microchipped, up-to-date on vaccinations, and ready to find a family of his own.

Looking for a feline friend instead? We have a darling little family living in our cat condo who would love to find a home. Mama Kitty is a gray and white short-haired gal of about 2-years-old. She’s shy but loving and has two babies: the dynamic duo of Tater and Mater. Tater and Mater are 3-month-old kittens disguised as fluffy balls of cuteness. 

These boys are wide-eyed and whiskery, and ridiculously darling. The cats can be adopted together or separately.

This year, DBCHS has placed more than 250 pets in loving homes, graduated 12 dogs from our Mutts With Manners program at Northpoint Training Center, and Happy Paws Clinic has performed over 330 low-cost spay or neuter surgeries. We couldn’t do it without a compassionate community. We’re grateful for your support, and we will see you back here next week with our featured dog or cat. Until then, remember, you can’t buy love, but you can rescue it!
