The third annual, light-hearted United Way of Kentucky .5K Marathon fund-raiser takes place Friday. Notice that it’s a .5K, not a normal 5K race. “The quarantine has been training us for this!” according to the United Way’s social media post.
This year due to COVID-19, the “marathon” will take place by walking a loop around Morning Pointe Senior Living facility on Perryville Road in Danville, and giving residents a safe and friendly wave, instead of at the Centre College football field track.
You may walk the course anytime between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 18.
To register go to www.hkuw.org and click on “Sign up today.” Cost is $25 in advance and $35 day of “race.”
Those who participate will receive their choice of a long sleeve Dri-FIT T-shirt or a super soft short sleeve T-shirt.
One hundred percent of the proceeds will benefit The Heart of Kentucky United Way.
