Sprucing up the Lord’s house

First Baptist Church Second and Walnut in Danville got a bit of a facelift Saturday morning as members of the church came together to touch up the paint on the fence around the church. About a dozen members volunteered their time to paint the fence, while also fellowshipping and enjoying some snacks, including hot dogs, while they worked.

Gary Johnson, a deacon at the church, said the project needed to be done, and the weather was great for it on Saturday.

“We’re just painting our church fence today. It hadn’t been painted in five or six years, so we got this project together. We knew we needed a pretty day to get it done,” Johnson said, adding that he wasn’t sure if the project would be completed Saturday. “We may give out,” he added with a laugh.

“We’re going to paint and not get weary,” said Earley Easterling, who was also lending a hand in the project.
