Now is the time to sign youth up for the clubs and projects we are currently offering in Boyle County. The 4-H program year runs from Sept. 1 to Aug. 31, so we are just beginning 2021 in 4-H world.

To sign up for any of the following, just call (859) 236-4484 or email marycatherine.rowland@uky.edu and we will provide you with a Participant Information/Enrollment Form.

Email newsletter signup

Complete that form, return it to our office and attend the meetings of your choice. That’s all you need to do to enroll.

Enrollment for all these clubs and projects ends on Dec. 1. If you have not enrolled by that date, you may not participate until the next program year begins in September of 2021.

One of our most popular projects is our Craft Project Group (ages 9-18) which meets first from 4-5 p.m. on-line on Oct. 1. Monthly meetings on the first Thursday of the month will occur through May. You must enroll before a meeting to get your kit of materials and access to the on-line meeting.

Our new Cloverbud Club for youth ages 6-8 meets first from 4:30-5 p.m. on-line on Oct. 15.  Monthly meetings on the third Thursday of the month occur through May. You must enroll before a meeting to get your materials list and access to the on-line meeting.

The following clubs and projects are meeting in-person at the Boyle County Extension Office (unless COVID-19 recommendations change), following social distancing guidelines and requiring masks. You may complete your PIEF at the first meeting you attend to enroll.

  • The Animal Science Club (ages 9-18), for youth interested in rabbits, poultry, dairy goats and cattle, and breeding and market livestock, meets from 5-6 p.m. on the second Monday of each month beginning October 12.
  • The Livestock Judging Project (ages 9-18) begins practice on Oct. 5 from 6-7 p.m. and will reoccur on the first Monday of each month through May.
  • The Livestock Skillathon Project (ages 9-18) begins practice on Oct. 12 from 6-7 p.m. immediately after the Animal Science Club meeting. Practices will occur on the second Monday of each month through February.
  • Heart for Horses Club (ages 9-18) is for any young person who loves horses, whether you ride one or not. This club will focus on learning about horses and the horse industry and doing service projects that benefit horses and people in Kentucky. Monthly meetings begin on Oct. 19 and will occur on the third Monday of each month through May.
