Road closure

Kentucky highway 1108 will be closed between Crawford Hollow Road and Whites Ridge Road from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, Oct. 13-15 for slope repair.

 

DBCAAHS to meet

Danville Boyle County African American Historical Society will meet 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 13 at the history center, 108 North Second Street. There will be a report on Michael Denis’ meeting with the city commission Monday; Bill Stocker will report on a recently discovered African American Cemetery; there will be an update on the dedication of Ella Marshall’s gravestone at Wilsonville Cemetery which will take place Friday (today) Oct. 9; discussion of an upcoming Zoom meeting with a team from North Carolina about the the telling of the story of Second Street which will take place at 2:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 23 at the McKinney Conference Center.

 

Program to discuss upcoming elections

The Boyle County Women’s Network is holding a program on the upcoming general elections by Zoom on Tuesday, Oct. 13 at 7 p.m. . The speakers are Trille Bottom, Boyle County Clerk and Ben Knoll, Centre Professor. Anyone who wants details on how to attend should text (859) 319-2076 by 6 p.m. Oct. 13.

 

Area Baptists to meet

Members of the South District Baptist Association will have their annual meeting Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 12 and 13. It will be a time of information sharing, inspiration and fellowship.

The Monday session will be at Junction City First Baptist Church and will begin with a meal at 6 p.m. with the meeting at 6:45 p.m. The Tuesday session will be at Doctor’s Fork Baptist Church at 6:15 p.m. and will not include a meal. 

Churches in the South District Baptist Association include ones in Boyle, and sections of  Garrard, Marion, Washington and Casey counties.

Major speaker for the meeting will be Pastor Aaron Hackworth from Perryville Baptist Church. Hackworth and his wife Tammy have four children. He has been at Perryville Baptist Church since June 2019.

A number of reports will be given including one on Celebration Baptist Church of Danville by Pastor Brandon Wilson. The church was recently formed to reach persons who are members of the millennial generation or generation Z. The church is less than  eight weeks old and has had several become Christians and church members already.   

Total membership of the churches is over 9,000. Moderator of the association is Pastor JR Fields of  Parksville. Associate Moderator is Pastor Brett Benton of Mitchellsburg and Director of Missions is Dr. Jim Clontz of Danville.
