Danville-Boyle County Humane Society

Our pets of the week are Rapunzel and Onyx.

Rapunzel is a 19-week-old tabby who’s staying with a foster family until she gains enough weight to be spayed. She lives with three foster kittens from a different litter and initiates play with all of them.

Unlike her namesake, Rapunzel needs no help getting around. She is active, curious, and courageously jumps from one shelf to another, the higher the better. Rapunzel is also a fan of catnip-filled toys, scratch posts, and anything she can chase – especially her best foster feline friends. After playing hard, she will climb on you to find a spot to snuggle and there is no stopping her low purr. 

Rapunzel will make a fun and loving addition to any family and we expect she will be ready for adoption in a few weeks.

Onyx is a vivacious, fun-lovin’ kind of gal. We estimate that she’s about two years old, and she acts like a puppy! She has a zeal for zoomies and enjoys running around the yard carrying toys in her mouth, two great ways to burn her boundless energy. She shows you how happy she is with a wide smile and furiously wagging tail.  

Onyx is as strong as an ox and has little patience for slow humans. She knows where she wants to go and will drag her human along to get there faster! Her new family should be prepared to leash-train this spirited girl.

Onyx seems to be dog-friendly and we ask that potential adopters schedule a meet and greet with any current dogs to make sure they can be pals.

Did you know? Danville-Boyle County Humane Society (DBCHS) & Boyle County Animal Control are separate organizations that work closely together. We share a building and phone number, resources, and a concern for the animals – and people! – in our community.  

Boyle County Animal Control is the government agency responsible for reuniting lost pets with their owners and enforcing laws pertaining to domestic animals in Boyle County. They’re funded by taxpayers and we encourage you to contact them if you find a stray pet, lost your pet, suspect neglect or abuse, or have an encounter with an aggressive cat or dog. If you need to surrender an animal please call animal control to make an appointment.
