We’ve gone to the dogs with our featured pets of the week: Cali and Joy.

Cali

Cali is a chunky monkey of a Pit Bull Terrier with a wiggle-butt that makes us think she may be mixed with Boxer. This 2-year-old pup has a soft white coat marked with russet splotches, and she sports pointy expressive ears and a giant smile.

Cali came to us as a stray, so we don’t know much about her previous life. What we do know about her, we adore! She’s charming and affectionate and relishes playing with other dogs and romping around the yard. After enjoying dog-time, Cali makes the rounds going from person to person, getting belly rubs in exchange for doggy kisses.

Come get to know Cali and bring any potential dog friends for a meet and greet, we think you’ll find her love-a-bull. She can be adopted now and picked up after her spay surgery next week.

Joy is a sprite little Shepherd mix with a seemingly shy and submissive personality. She came to us as a stray, and we are estimating that she’s about 3-years-old. Don’t be fooled by how timid she appears when you walk by her kennel; once out in the yard, she needs mere minutes to warm up and become the star of playgroups.

Joy

Joy likes other dogs, but she loves people. She’s content to lean on her human and get a good scratch beyond the ears, but she really gets her kicks by rolling on her back for a tummy rub. Joy requests that she meet any potential furry friends to make sure they like playing together. Joy will make a devoted addition to any family. She can be adopted now and picked up after her spay surgery next week.

The 7th Annual Pints for Pets is around the corner! It’s DBCHS’s biggest fundraiser of the year, and we hope you will join us — virtually — the week of Nov. 16.

Instead of the traditional one-night Pub Crawl Downtown Danville looks forward to every year, we’re taking it off the streets and to your screen to be safe and follow CDC guidelines. We’ve got a doggone cool commemorative T-shirt that looks great with any mask, a spirit card with deals from our generous sponsors, and meowntains of prizes. Register at https://www.givesignup.org/TicketEvent/PintsforPets. Want to join the pawty as a sponsor? Call (859) 238-1117 right now to be included!

The Danville-Boyle County Humane Society was established in 1972 to promote companion animals’ humane treatment through sheltering, adoptions, community education, and spay and neuter programs. DBCHS is a non-profit 501 (c)(3) organization dependent on monetary gifts from generous individuals and businesses in our community.

To donate, please visit DBCHS.org or mail a check to DBCHS P.O. Box 487, Danville, KY 40423-0487. Your monetary gift will make a difference in a deserving dog or cat’s life, and we appreciate every dollar. Thank you for your support!
