As this crazy year winds down to its end, the 7th annual Pints for Pets ‘Mask’querade presented by Bob Allen Motor Mall is right around the corner. Pints for Pets is one of the biggest fundraisers of the year for the Danville-Boyle County Humane Society and has always gotten a warm reception from the community.

We always look forward to our night out in downtown Danville, but this is obviously not the year to encourage a mass gathering,” said DBCHS Board President Fizzy Ramsey. “Our life-saving work does not slow down despite the pandemic, nor does the need to raise funds and awareness. Pints for Pets has become two-fold in that we celebrate the shelter’s success with our community who makes it possible, all while raising funds to keep things going. We enjoy engaging with local businesses and our community in a fun way, hence our virtual Pints for Pets ‘Mask’querade!”

Instead of the typical one-night pub crawl in downtown Danville, this year’s Pints for Pets ‘Mask’querade features a series of online events from Nov. 16 through Nov. 22. The official kick-off will be Monday night with a virtual happy hour at Harvey’s.
“Alex and Ann Yager have a devout following for their regular cocktail hour on Facebook. We’re psyched to join the fun-loving duo and invite people to tune in. At least we can connect virtually with those near and far, raise a glass (or dog bowl) and elaborate on what’s in store.” Ramsey explained.

Tuesday will be trivia night, hosted on Zoom by local talent Mike Archer. Archer is doing double-duty this year and will host an online concert Wednesday night, too. Thursday is virtual bingo with Bluegrass Pizza Pub, and we’ll wrap up the week with virtual happy hours at Copper and Oak and Gypsy Run Brewery.

The commemorative t-shirt is a nod to all the fun we’ve missed this year and is paired with a spirit card. The Spirit Paws Card features deals from Bluegrass & Buttercream, Bluegrass Pizza & Pub, Burkmann’s, Carwash Express, Copper & Oak, Gypsy Run, Harvey’s, The Hub, and Wilderness Trail Distillery. The deals are good through January 31, 2021, so we are making the pawty last!

Plus, all week long, the humane society’s official mascot Spot will be out and about downtown. If you choose to mask up and take advantage of some spirit card deals, wear your 7th Annual Pints for Pets ‘Mask’querade teeshirt. If Spot spots you, you’ll get a prize!

Speaking of prizes, we’ve got goodies from our friends at Bluegrass Mobile Grooming, Grounds & Hounds, and AM News (thank you!), to name just a few.

This year, DBCHS has placed more than 340 pets in loving homes and performed low or no-cost spay/neuter surgery on more than 300 owned or community cats. As a 501(c)3 nonprofit, DBCHS relies on fundraisers like Pints for Pets to care for needy animals in Danville-Boyle County.

“We could all use some fellowship and fun. Supporting your humane society and local businesses in a safe and enjoyable way makes it a win-win,” Ramsey noted. “We hope folks will embrace this different version of our beloved pub crawl and join us for a week of good times, online!”
