Pets of the week

This week our featured pets are two felines in foster homes: Butterfinger and JB.

Butterfinger is a darling three-month-old calico kitten whose tri-color coat is striking and distinctive. Amid the burst of black, orange, and white markings is a little pink kitten nose.

Butterfinger, along with her siblings Candy Corn and Licorice, are living in a foster home until they’re big enough to be spayed. They have been exposed to dogs of varying sizes: a 70-pound hound mix, a 50-pound pit bull mix, and a three-legged treeing feist that comes in at a whopping 12 pounds. The kitties took each one in stride, confidently sniffing each pup, and then carried on with their business.

Butterfinger is the purrfect combination of curious and cuddly. She likes to play – with her sisters, her toys, her shadow – and then once playtime is over, she would like some snuggle and pet time; thank you very much!

Like her sisters, Butterfinger is a clean kitty that uses the litter box, and she’s up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccines. The Candy Kittens are all scheduled to be spayed next week and should be ready to go to their new homes by Thanksgiving. Add any one (or two! OR ALL!) of the kitties to your family, and they will surely bring something special to your holiday.

JB is a handsome six-month-old cat with huge, glowing eyes and a soft gray and white coat. This young guy came to us after being hit by a car. A group of concerned community members raised money for his vet bill, and he’s currently living in a foster home while he gains his bearings and awaits neuter surgery.

At first, JB was confused about his surroundings and kept to himself. Now that he is recuperated, he’s warming up and learning how to live with dogs and other cats. JB regularly converses (via chirps) with one of the resident felines and knows how to handle himself around the dogs. JB’s also discovered that he digs sleeping on humans and getting petted. JB will be ready for adoption next week and would be grateful to find his furever family before Thanksgiving.
