Sharon Rue Cheak

1943 – 2020

Sharon Rue Cheak, age 77, of Danville passed away peacefully November 26th at Ephriam McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville after suffering a heart attack on November 14th. Sharon was born on September 8th, 1943 in Somerset, KY to Insco Williams and Doris Bryant Rue.

Sharon was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Thomas (Tom) Cheak, her parents and her sister Rebecca June Rue.

Sharon leaves behind to celebrate her life a long list of family and friends including three children (Bryan and Cherlynn Cheak of Burgin, Robert Daniel and Angela Cheak of Danville and Kathryn and Doug Readnour of Danville). 6 Grandchildren (Michael and Emily Cheak of Danville, Tyler and Niki Cheak of McKee, Christian Robert Cheak of Danville, Aaron Readnour, Emily Readnour and Madison Readnour all of Danville.) Also 3 Great Grandchildren (Ellie Cheak, Jameson Cheak and Elijah Cheak) and 1 Brother (Insco and Judy Rue of Danville).

Sharon was a 1961 graduate of Harrodsburg High School where she was very active in the Pioneer Marching Band as a Majorette. Upon graduating High School Sharon was a dedicated employee of the Kentucky Department of Higher Education and The Kentucky State Department of Corrections.

Upon her retirement from the public sector Sharon was a dedicated Wife, Mother and Grandmother that dedicated her life to the service and needs of her family. Over the years Sharon was active in several churches in Danville including First Baptist Church and Faith Church. Sharon knew who Jesus was and she had full faith and confidence in Him and of her eternal destination.

Sharon’s life was a living example of the Bible verse, Ephesians 4:32 — “And be kind and compassionate (tender-hearted) to one another, forgiving one another (readily and freely), just as God also forgave you in Christ.”

The family would like to extend their appreciation to the entire ICU team and the staff of the 3rd floor at Ephraim. Their care and compassion were exemplary and will not soon be forgotten.

Services for Sharon will be held on Tuesday, December 1st with a private family service at Preston-Pruitt-Spurlin Funeral Home in Danville. A private graveside service at Danville Memorial Gardens. www.preston-pruitt.com
