Shirlie Ann Young

1936 – 2020

Shirlie Ann Young, age 84, of Lexington, passed away Sunday morning, December 20, 2020 at Baptist Health in Lexington. She was born October 28, 1936, in Stanford, KY to the late Roy Young and Marie Young VanArsdale. She was an angel on earth and was a bright light of happiness, joy, and childlike wonder to everyone who knew her. Shirlie was preceded in death by: her mother, Marie VanArsdale; her father, Roy Young; her sister, Ruby Gisler; her brother-in-law, Albert Gisler; and numerous aunts and uncles. She attended Anchor Baptist Church. Shirlie loved to work puzzles, exercise, eat peppermints, and enjoyed listening to and singing the old hymns. Shirlie is survived by: her daughter, Tammy Frank; her grandchildren, Josh Blair and Casey Blair; her two great-grandchildren; her nieces, Debbie Love (Marc), Paula Gisler, Dana Davidson (John); and her nephew, David Gisler (Pam); along with many adoring great-nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 am Thursday, December 24, 2020 at Buffalo Springs Cemetery in Stanford, KY. No visitation. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations, in Shirlie’s honor, be given to the Salvation Army or Lord’s Legacy Ministry. Kerr Brothers Funeral Home-Harrodsburg Road in Lexington is in care of funeral arrangements.
