Virginia Lee Ellis

1932 – 2020

Virginia Lee Ellis, 88, passed away Wednesday, December 30, 2020. Virginia was born in Lincoln County on June 1, 1932 and was the daughter of the late George Overton and Gladys Brummett Watkins. She was the wife of the late William Stanley Ellis.

Virginia was a member of Perryville Baptist Church and worked as a deli clerk for Kroger. She enjoyed cooking and serving others at her job. Virginia was also a former cook at the Battlefield Market. However, most of all, Virginia loved the people around her, especially her family, friends, and church family.

Survivors include two children, Billy Ellis, and Diane (Steve) Elswick, a sister, Rovene Adkins, and five grandchildren, Brian Ellis, Melissa Ellis, Shannon Boyd, Mandy Tarrence, Kelsie Alsman, and 13 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 6, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Walden Funeral Home. The funeral will then begin at 4 p.m., with Dan McCelland officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials go to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Pallbearers will be Pete Bottom, Mark Bottom, Chris Bottom, Brian Ellis, Trevor Boyd, Jeremy Tarrence, and Blake Tarrence.
