Amelia Nichols

1932 – 2021

Amelia Nichols died January 6th, 2021 at age 88. She was born to William Douglas and Winnie Oldham Green on May 28, 1932 in Gallatin, TN where she grew up and graduated from Gallatin High School. She attended Centre College and graduated in 1954 with a BA degree. While at Centre she met her future husband, John B. Nichols III, of Danville who predeceased her in 2014 after almost sixty years of marriage.

She was a homemaker, a loving wife, mother and grandmother and a member of the Danville Presbyterian Church. She was an active volunteer with the church, library, Centre, and the Humane Society. Pets, bird watching, hiking and tennis were her hobbies, and she was hostess for The Empty Nest Bed & Breakfast in her home for twenty years.

Survivors are her three children, Kitty (Ben) Sears of Nashville, Ann Reid (Jeff) Guild of Chattanooga and Alex Nichols of Jacksonville, FL; four grandchildren, Katie (Bryan) Forsyth, Nathan (Kendall) Sears, Nick Bradford, Patrick Bradford and two great grandchildren, Camille, and Luca Forsyth.

A private graveside service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the Danville-Boyle County Humane Society or the Salvation Army. Stith Funeral Home provides an online memorial page and guestbook at www.stithcares.com.
