Some things that are lost cannot be found

It’s no surprise that many of us lose things all the time. We can lose our keys or our glasses or our favorite ink pen. If your life is like mine, anytime you lay your pen down for a second at work you can consider it history. I then spend the next several weeks searching like Dog the Bounty Hunter to see if I can spot who the culprit was that swiped my pen.

I find that for the most part, I rarely lose things. I give credit to this to the fact that I am one of those people who think that everything I own has a place.

Some people sling off their jacket as they come in the house and allow it to land wherever it will, whereas I place my jacket on the hanger in the closet just like Mr. Rogers Neighborhood taught me to do as a child.

The only things that I normally lose are the two that cause me the most alarm and that is my phone and the TV remote control. Both can usually be found after a short search in the couch cushions. However, more than once I have put important items in a safe place and then forget where the safe place is at when I go to retrieve them.

I have a friend who recently said he lost his glasses. I’m not sure exactly how that would happen as I have a convenient place to store my glasses. It’s called my face. If I ever did lose them then I doubt I would be able to ever find them. I would just have to walk around the house in a blurry maze.

My wife and I went to the store the other day and due to the fact I had already used up my tolerance for people for one day, I elected to sit in the truck while she ran in real quick.

As I sat in the parking lot, I saw a guy come out of the store who had obviously forgotten where he parked his vehicle and was wandering all over the parking lot. I couldn’t help but feel a bit sorry for him but not so much that I stopped snickering to myself.

My wife has always found it strange that I have a specific row that I park in when we go to Walmart. That way when I come out I don’t end up like the poor guy who lost his car.

A lot of the time, people just quickly park their car without thinking too much about it. They are focused on trying to figure out what in the world to have for supper and still have time to watch The Bachelor.

When our son was a teenager, he used to borrow my socks because he had, “lost” his. How in the world you lose your socks is beyond me but some questions you don’t want to know the answer to.

The only thing you can lose that you can never find is time.

We rush through life acting like we are in a hurry and don’t take the time to stop and smell the roses. We have to remember that the most important thing in life is time with family. Long after the stressors of life have come and gone we realize they didn’t really matter.

Children grow quicker than a dandelion in a tomato garden and we want to be there for every important moment.

I find it ironic the only thing I lose that I don’t have to search for is weight. I don’t have to find it. It always find me.
