Mary Jo Smith

1941 – 2021

Mary Jo Smith, age 79, died Friday, February 19, 2021 in Waddy, Kentucky.

Mary Jo was born and raised at Sleepy Hollow Farm in Waddy, Kentucky. She attended Eastern Kentucky University and lived in Danville and Lexington for many years, returning to the family farm after retirement. She returned to the workforce when her girls went off to college and worked for 25 years at Farmers National Bank, retiring as Assistant Vice President of customer service.

Mary Jo was devoted to her daughters, grandchildren, and great grandson. She was a skilled bridge player who relished a grand slam, an avid bowler and proud member of the 200 club, and a talented dancer who love to jitterbug with her sweetheart and husband of 59 years, Davis Smith.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Samuel and Mary Katherine Robertson, Jr. and her husband, Davis Smith.

She survived by her daughters, Kathy Maciel (David) of Bowling Green, Kentucky and Lisa Smith Cottrill of Charlotte, North Carolina; her grandchildren, Hayley Haug (Garrett) of Louisville, Kyle Maciel of Bowling Green, Jack Cottrill (Farrell) of Raleigh, North Carolina and Mary Katherine Cottrill of Charlotte, North Carolina, and great grandson, Jack Cottrill of Raleigh, North Carolina.
