This week we’re featuring Chewy and Benny, two adoptable dogs available through Home To Home™.

Home To Home™ is a unique, direct-to-adopter program for pet owners looking to re-home their animals. In just a few simple steps, pets can find a loving new home without ever seeing the inside of a shelter.

Home To Home™ is free to use for both owners and adopters and gives animals needing a new home the best of both worlds: their current owner can find the best fit, and their adopter can learn all about their personality and preferences first-hand. It’s a win-win for all!

If you are worried about what happens to animals adopted without a fee, don’t be! I used to feel the same way until I saw the research. According to several studies over the last decade, people who adopt during free or fee waived events love and care for their dog or cat as much as those who pay an adoption fee. Now on to the pets of the week: Chewy is a 4-year-old neutered coonhound mix. This handsome guy gets along with cats, dogs, and children of all ages. Chewy loves to run, play and snuggle with his people, especially the small humans in his family.

Benny is an adorable 1-year-old boxer/lab/shepherd mix. He’s a friendly, loving, energetic dog. He’s had obedience training, is crate and house trained, and is neutered and microchipped. Benny gets along with kids, cats, and other dogs and is looking for a home with lots of space for him to run and explore safely.

When we bring a dog or cat into our family, we intend for it to be “furever.” But things happen, and there are times when rehoming a pet may well be the most compassionate and responsible thing to do.

Home To Home™ is being used successfully in more than 50 shelters in the U.S. and now, here, too. In only one month, we helped three caring families re-home their pets, and one family decided not to rehome their pet after all.
