Ephraim McDowell Health announces that it has awarded scholarships to 11 area students who are pursuing careers in health care.

The health care system awards a $1,000 renewable scholarship to high school seniors or a $2,000 renewable scholarship to college students from Boyle and the surrounding counties.

In addition, the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center (EMRMC) Auxiliary and the Ephraim McDowell Fort Logan Hospital (EMFLH) Auxiliary award $1,000 health care scholarships to high school seniors in Boyle and Lincoln counties and they offer $500 scholarships to individuals who participated in the Teen Volunteer Program.

The Ephraim McDowell James B. Haggin (EMJBH) Auxiliary also awards a $500 scholarship to a high school senior in Mercer County who is pursuing a career in health care. Another scholarship award this year is the Keith & Vicki A. Darnell Scholarship which offers $500 to a high school senior pursuing a health care career.

Receiving the Ephraim McDowell Health Care Scholarships are:

• Riley Cerqueira of Boyle County plans to attend the University of the Cumberlands this fall to begin classes for pre-med. She recently graduated from Boyle County High School.

• Seth Brunner, a 2020 graduate of Danville High School, currently attends the University of Cincinnati where he is obtaining his degree in Medical Science.

• McKenzie Settles of Lincoln County is planning to attend Campbellsville University this fall to obtain her degree and prepare for a career as a physical therapist. McKenzie was also awarded the $1,000 EMFLH Auxiliary Health Care Scholarship.

• Emily Mattingly of Washington County will be attending the University of Kentucky in the fall to obtain a degree in clinical leadership and management.

• Emily Bechtel of Mercer County will attend the University of Pikeville in the fall to pursue a degree in optometry.

• Parker Walton of Garrard County will be attending Campbellsville University to obtain his bachelor’s degree in nursing beginning this fall.

• Kyndall Honaker, of Boyle County, received a $1,000 EMRMC Auxiliary Healthcare Scholarship. She will attend Eastern Kentucky University to achieve her bachelor’s degree in nursing.

• Jenna Haines, a graduate of Danville High School, also received a $1,000 EMRMC Auxiliary Health Care Scholarship. She plans to attend Centre College in the fall to pursue a degree that will lead to a career as a speech language pathologist.

• Alana Lassiter, of Boyle County, received the $500 EMRMC Auxiliary Teen Scholarship. Alana plans to attend Western Kentucky University this fall to obtain a degree in psychological science.

• Bailey Hall, of Mercer County, received the $500 EMJBH Auxiliary Health Care Scholarship. She plans to pursue her degree at the University of Kentucky this fall leading to a career as a physician assistant.

• Kylie Devine, of Mercer County, was awarded the $500 Keith & Vicki A. Darnell Scholarship. She plans on obtaining her bachelor’s degree in nursing at Eastern Kentucky University beginning this fall.
