Sandra S. “Sandy” Hunt

1954 – 2021

Sandra S. “Sandy” Hunt, 67, of Danville, KY passed away on Thursday, June 17, 2021 following a fierce battle with metastatic breast cancer. Born May 31, 1954, she was the daughter of Mary Isabella Rorrer Krug of Shrewsbury, PA and the late Robert B. Krug, Sr. Most know her by the name Gammy. And that is exactly who she was to everyone. She was a safe place to come to for comfort and advice. She treated every person she met like family and accepted all around her with open arms. Every situation that life threw her way she handled with pure grace. There was never a time that Gammy did not show up for the ones she loved, and she made the very most of her life. She was supportive, kind, selfless, and faithful. The qualities that she possessed were one in a million, and it is heartbreaking that a soul so wonderful was taken so soon. But heaven needed her more and that is ok. May we all cling to the fact that we will see her again and that this is not a goodbye, but a “see you later.” There will never be another like Gammy. Sandy is survived by her beloved husband of 48 years, Maurice “Michael” Hunt. She leaves behind two daughters, Kristy M. Hunt of Danville, KY and Melissa “Missy” (Randy) Ingram of Danville, KY. She has three grandchildren she loved and adored, Haleigh and Kobe Ingram and Rhen Hunt. She leaves one sister, Judy (Jack) Kroh (two nieces, Tami and Jami) of Shrewsbury, PA and two brothers: Troy Krug (one niece, Sarah and two nephews, Cory and Adam) of York, PA and Robert B. Krug, Jr. of Dallas, TX. Sandy retired in 2018 from “Kids Morning Out” at Centenary United Methodist Church, Danville, KY where she was also a member. Sandy graduated from York County Vocational Technical School in York, PA and Susquehannock High School in Glen Rock, PA in 1972. She worked for Western Electric/AT&T in Cockeysville, MD as a Keypunch Operator; Christ Lutheran Church Preschool in Shrewsbury, PA as a Teacher’s Aide; and Southern York County School District in Glen Rock, PA as a Receptionist, Switchboard Operator, Property Tax Collector, and Census Taker. She was employed also by Nesco and Admart Custom Signage of Danville, KY. Visitation will be from 1-3 pm, Saturday July 17 at Centenary United Methodist Church in Danville, KY. A Memorial Service will follow at 3 pm with Rev. Chris Morgan officiating. Memorial Contributions are suggested to the Kids Morning Out Program, c/o Centenary UMC, 1441 Perryville Road, Danville, KY. 40422 or online at kmo.danvillecumc.org.
