In this virtual field trip, Bryan Bush will tell us the story of Perryville Battlefield State Historic Site, located in Perryville, Kentucky. You will learn in-depth details about the battle and how it still affects the area almost 160 years later. This video will premiere on the library’s YouTube channel on Saturday, June 26 at noon.

• Teen D&D

On Saturday, June 26 from 2-4: p.m. teens are invited to play the role-playing game Dungeons & Dragons. Originally scheduled to be held virtually, this event will now be held in-person at the library. Teens (ages 13-18) can venture through campaigns that will test their ability to work together and conquer foes in this tabletop adventure. Registration is required to play. Go to boylepublib.org/teendnd to register.

• Virtual Adult D&D

Dungeons & Dragons is often called the greatest role-playing game of all time. The library offers a virtual Dungeons & Dragons club for adults that meets on two Sundays each month. Adults (ages 18+) can join a virtual campaign on Sunday, June 27 at noon or 4:30 p.m. Sessions are run via several web-based services such as Roll20.net and Discordapp.com. Additional information on how to play is available on the event listing on the library’s website. To register, contact the Boyle County Public Library via email at library@boylepublib.org.

• Tween LibCrates

Each month the library offers Tween LibCrates, a virtual book club for tweens (ages 9-13). The June Tween LibCrate will feature the book The Simple Art of Flying by Cory Leonardo. Each crate contains a free book, themed activities, prizes, and discussion questions. This month’s theme is “Birds & Pets.” Crates may be picked up any time in June. On Monday, June 28 at 4 p.m., participants can watch the discussion and unboxing video premiere on Facebook and YouTube. Responses to the discussion questions should be emailed to Youth Services Librarian Kinsey Hisle at khisle@boylepublib.org prior to the discussion on Monday.

• Teen LibCrates Talk

The library offers a monthly book club for teens (ages 13-18). Join us on Monday, June 28 at 6 p.m. to discuss the June LibCrate book title, The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness. Share your thoughts, both good and bad, about the book and hang out with your friends. LibCrates may be picked up from the Circulation Desk, while supplies last. No registration is required. Visit the event listing on the library website for information on how to participate in the discussion.

• STEM Kits for Kids and Tweens

Kids and tweens are invited to have some science fun this summer with our STEM kits. In June, kids (ages 5-8) will be making edible slime and edible playdough. Tweens (ages 9-13) will be making Pokemon Slime using glue, liquid starch, glitter, and a mini Pokemon figurine. Both kits will be available for pickup on Tuesday, June 29 at 10 a.m. in the library lobby.

• Tail Bookmarks Kit

On Tuesday, June 29 at 10 a.m. the library will release a fun kit featuring an animal themed-bookmark to design and use with your favorite books. This kit uses book pages, cardstock, and markers to make various animal tail shapes, designs, and patterns that can then be cut out and used as bookmarks. An instructional video will be released concurrently with the kit on the library’s YouTube channel. Kits will be available in the lobby, while supplies last. This activity is recommended for ages 18 and up, but is appropriate for all ages.
