Pets of the week: Rocky the dog and Shylo the cat

Published 10:00 am Tuesday, June 29, 2021

Our pets of the week are Rocky the dog and Shylo the cat.

Rocky is a 1-year-old block-headed mixed-breed pup with a jet-black coat and a splash of white on his chest. He’s got an athletic, slender build and could stand to put on a few pounds. Rocky is a real lover and wants to be with his human all the time, giving kisses and getting petted. When he meets a new person, his whole body wriggles with delight!

Rocky is looking for an active family who will exercise his body with regular walks and plenty of playtime. In addition to physical enrichment, Rocky will benefit from basic behavior training that engages his mind. If you give him a structured routine and clear expectations, he’ll repay you with undying loyalty. Rocky needs to be an only pet, but with all that love, he’s the only pet you’ll need! Rocky is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and ready to go home.

If you are interested in adopting Rocky, please bring your family for a meet and greet Monday – Friday between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. Before coming out, give us a call to make sure he’s still available and complete an online application to save time: https://bit.ly/2Qo4EfE.

What’s more rewarding than saving a shelter pet’s life? How about saving a pet from ever going to the shelter in the first place?! With DBCHS’s Home To Home™ direct placement adoption site, dogs and cats go from one caring home into their new loving homes without having to stay in a cage at the shelter. DBCHS has helped people find homes for more than 50 pets through Home To Home™ in the last four months!

Shylo is one of our Home To Home™ cats looking for a fresh start due to his owner’s health. This 1-year-old feline has the energy of a kitten! He loves to play and has lots of toys.

Shylo can be shy at first but warms up quickly. Once he’s done playing, he will jump into your lap for snuggles. Shylo is neutered, up-to-date on his vaccinations, and will be an excellent companion for whoever chooses him as a part of their family. Let’s make Shylo another cat that avoids a stressful trip to the shelter: visit his pet profile on Home To Home™ at https://dbchs.home-home.org/pet/shylo/ to directly contact his owner about adoption.

Speaking of cats, if you or someone you know are feeding outdoor cats in Boyle County, we can get them spayed/neutered and vaccinated at no cost to you! Call us at 859-238-1117 between 1-3 p.m. Monday through Friday to make an appointment. Together we’ll reach beyond shelter walls and save more lives.
