Late Wednesday morning the sun was glaring, the air was steamy, and heat was radiating off the pavement in the Lexington Avenue Baptist Church parking lot.

But that didn’t discourage Kember Huff from practicing riding his tiny blue bicycle there.

With the help of his grandmother, Ann Arnold, Kember concentrated on pedaling in a straight line several times before quiting and going back across the road to Arnold’s home on Fourth Street.
