Boyle County Census data released

Boyle County’s population increased slightly since 2010 according to U.S. Census numbers released last week.

The total population in 2020 was 30,614, which was 2,182 more than the population recorded in 2010 (28,432) and was an increase of 7.7%.

Boyle County is now ranked 34th in the state of the most densely populated. Muhlenberg County has just about 300 more residents than Boyle, and Knox County has about 420 fewer residents.

Jefferson (782,969), Fayette (322,570) and Kenton (169,064) counties are the most populated. Hickman (4,521), Owsley ( 4,051) and Robertson (2,193) counties are the least populated in the Commonwealth.

Boyle County’s population density was 169.7 people per square mile, according to the census. Jefferson County’s population density was 2,056.1 people per square mile.

The Danville Micro Area, which includes Lincoln County, has a population of 54,889, which increased 3.2%, or 1,715  from 2010.

Kentucky’s total population grew 3.8%, or 166,469, from the last Census with 4,505,836 people living in the state. And the population density is 114.1 people per square mile.

Kentucky is also ranked 26th in the nation in population. Kentucky is ranked 26th in the nation in population, behind Louisiana (4,657,757) and ahead of Oregon (4,237,256.

The 2020 Census counted every person living in the United States and the five U.S. territories. It marked the 24th census in U.S. history and the first time that households were invited to respond to the census online.

By Sept. 30, 2021 the Census Bureau will deliver the final redistricting data toolkit to all states and the public. This will include digital tools which provides access to an integrated software browsing tool for official recipients, as well access to the online Data Explorer tool for both official recipients and the public.
