Ginger is a sweet, 6-year-old mixed-breed dog who’s built like a tank! That sturdy build is necessary to hold her giant heart, huge smile and floppy ears. Ginger’s human had to surrender her due to his serious health issues, and Ginger is having difficulty adapting to the smells and sounds in the shelter environment. Though she is confused and heartbroken, Ginger takes a break from singing the blues when getting petted.

Ginger’s person told us she is a good girl. She is house trained, can sit on command and she’s excellent with kids. She does not like cats and prefers to be the only pet because she has so much love to give. If you are looking for miles of smiles and a great big snuggle buddy, Ginger is ready to share her affection.

Trooper is a happy-go-lucky mixed-breed boy of about 2 years old. He was picked up as a stray, so little is known about this handsome man. But one look into these deep brown eyes, and you’ll surely want to know more!

An upbeat, energetic dog, Trooper enjoys romping in the yard before relaxing next to you and getting his ears scratched. He sits for a treat and is highly trainable. Trooper will make a fantastic companion for an active person or family who understands his need for structure and responsible dog ownership.

Trooper and Ginger will be fixed, microchipped and vaccinated before going to their new homes.

Bring your dog and family on weekdays between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. to meet them. Call 859-238-1117 to ensure they’re still available, and complete an online application to save time: https://bit.ly/2Qo4EfE. Let’s get these pups into a cozy warm home before another week passes.

Speaking of passing time, if you haven’t registered for the 8th Annual Pints for Pets yet, what are you waiting for? On Saturday, Oct. 23, we’ll start at Weisiger Park with an afternoon of family and dog-friendly fun, with food, live music, and more. The pub crawl begins as soon as night falls. Keeping in line with last year’s success, we’re also hosting many online activities this year, such as a virtual happy hour (or should I say a yappy hour?) and team trivia.

As always, we’ve got a cool commemorative T-shirt, and like last year, the shirt comes with a ‘spirit paws card’ featuring deals from our gracious Danville sponsors.

It’s great fun for a great cause, and you’re also supporting local businesses when you take part in Pints for Pets. Don’t miss the fun: register now at https://bit.ly/3gaoLHF, and we’ll see you soon!
