Boil water advisory issued for Wilderness Road and Broadway area

Published 8:39 am Wednesday, October 6, 2021

A boil water advisory was issued at 8:25 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 6, for residents in the area of 130 Wilderness Road and Broadway Street as city officials replace a fire hydrant on a 6-inch cast-iron line. It is estimated that approximately 200 customers will be affected by this advisory.

Although no contamination has been confirmed, the city of Danville recommends bringing water to a rolling boil and allowed to boil for three minutes. Water should cool before using. Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes, and food preparation until further notice. Boiling kills bacteria and other organisms in the water.

People with severely compromised immune systems, infants, and some elderly may be at increased risk. These people should seek advice from their healthcare providers about drinking water.
