The 8th Annual Pints for Pets is coming back to Danville next week. Pints for Pets was created in 2014 by dedicated volunteers and board members to raise funds for the Danville-Boyle County Humane Society while having a great time with friends and supporting downtown businesses at the same time. Since then, it’s been a highly-anticipated annual event that continued even through COVID-19 restrictions last year.

“Because of the support of our community and the hard work of our shelter and animal control staff, we have weathered the ongoing storm of the pandemic quite well,” said Laura Coleman Pritchard, DBCHS Board of Directors President.

“Our animals have gone to great permanent homes, often without setting one paw in our shelter. Volunteers and our network of experts in animal welfare have partnered with us on cases of animal neglect and cruelty,” Pritchard continued. “Now it’s time to celebrate this community with a fun event.”

Last year’s activities were all online because of limits on large gatherings. This year DBCHS can take a hybrid approach, and Prichard notes that “We could not be more excited that Pints for Pets this year has both in-person and virtual components!”

There will be a different online event every evening beginning Monday, Oct. 18, through Friday, Oct. 22, including a Virtual Happy Hour with Harvey’s “Cocktails with Alex & AY” and a Night of Giving at Copper and Oak. Plus cyber trivia, bingo, and more: visit dbchs.org and follow DBCHS at facebook.com/DBCHS for a complete list of events and updates.

The week of virtual festivities culminates Saturday, Oct. 23, in an outdoor gathering at Weisiger Park from noon to 7 p.m. There will be family-friendly fun and games, plus food and drinks against the backdrop of live music from area artists Elias Delbridge, Be Square, and Port & Starboard. Well-mannered pups are welcome — there will be treats for them, too!

DBCHS and its partners made a difference in the lives of nearly 1,500 pets over the last 12 months. As a 501(c)3 nonprofit, the DBCHS relies on fundraisers like Pints for Pets to continue its lifesaving mission. Your participation assures that DBCHS can positively impact even more pets — and their people — in the coming year.
