The 8th Annual Pints for Pets is here. Last year’s online activities were well-received, so this year DBCHS is taking a hybrid approach.

“We could not be more excited that Pints for Pets this year has both in-person and virtual components,” said Laura Coleman Pritchard, DBCHS Board of Directors President.

“Our animals have gone to great permanent homes, often without setting one paw in our shelter. Volunteers and our network of experts in animal welfare have partnered with us on cases of animal neglect and cruelty,” Pritchard continued. “Now it’s time to celebrate this community with a fun event.”

The fun kicked off Monday night with virtual happy hour: “Cocktails with Alex & AY” at Harvey’s. If you missed it, don’t worry — there are plenty of activities the rest of the week, too.

Tuesday night is Live Team Trivia hosted by Mike Archer at Big City Pizza Danville from 7:30-9 p.m. with prizes for first, second and third-place finishers. Then join us virtually for Cat-Dog Bingo on Thursday at 7 p.m. — you know you want to find out what that’s all about!

On Friday, we’ve got Yappy Hour at Gypsy Run from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Humans can enjoy drink specials, and their dog-friendly dogs can get all the pets they want. The week of festivities culminates Saturday, October 23, in an outdoor gathering at Weisiger Park from 12:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Pick up a bite to go from your favorite downtown establishment and hang out with us in the park. There will be family-friendly fun, games, and drinks with the backdrop of live music from area artists Elias Delbridge, Be Square and Port & Starboard. Well-mannered pups are welcome — there will be treats for them, too!

DBCHS and its partners made a difference in the lives of nearly 1,500 pets over the last 12 months; as a 501(c)3 nonprofit, the DBCHS relies on fundraisers like Pints for Pets to continue its lifesaving mission. Your participation assures that the humane society can positively impact even more pets – and their people – in the coming year.

Online registration is open through Thursday at https://www.givesignup.org/TicketEvent/thAnnualPintsforPets and includes a limited-edition Pints for Pets tee shirt and a spirit card with great deals from local businesses. You can register on-site Saturday, but we might not have your preferred shirt size available. Find all the details here: https://www.dbchs.org/pintsevents, follow facebook.com/DBCHS for updates, and email or call the humane society with questions at dbchs@bellsouth.net or (859) 238-1117. We look forward to raising a pint for pets with you!
