State Representative Daniel Elliott announced this week that the Tobacco Settlement Agreement Fund Oversight Committee received notification that the Boyle County Farm Bureau will receive $152,000, in funding through the Kentucky Agricultural Development Fund. This funding is specifically approved by the Kentucky Agriculture Development Board for a County Agricultural Investment Program. An additional $15,000 in funding has been approved for a Deceased Farm Animal Removal Program that will be received by the Boyle County Conservation District.

“I’m extremely pleased that $167,000 in agricultural development funds will become available to our county,” Elliott said. “The legislature has always kept the commonwealths agricultural heritage at the forefront of our agenda. This can been seen through our enjoined work with the Agricultural Development Board and the Department of Agriculture as we continue to make strides in funding opportunities. It will be a pleasure to see where this funding will take some of Boyle County’s newest developments.”

The legislature created the KADB in 2000 to invest a portion of the state’s part of the Tobacco Master Settlement Agreement. The Tobacco Master Settlement Agreement fund that was established as a result of an accord that was reached in 1998 between four major tobacco product manufacturers and 46 states. Legislators moved the KADB to the Department of Agriculture during the 2021 Regular Session to better serve the mission of the fund.
