Boyle County High School got a visit from the National Guard base on Oct. 20. A MedEvac helicopter flew onto the lawn on campus from Frankfort.

Students school-wide came to watch the landing, and aviation/aerospace engineering class students got to meet the pilots and technical staff and learn about careers, said Sam Staggs, physics and engineering teacher and also the teacher of the aviation class. Students videotaped and took photos of the helicopter as it landed and got to explore the inside of it.

Soldiers from the National Guard involved were: Maj. Jimmie Warinner, Capt. Jonathan Strayer, Sgt. First Class Ben Crane, Staff SSG Hunter Marcinek, and CW2 Kristan Beard.

Staggs said he wanted to do something exciting for the aviation class again, like their trip in May to the Danville-Boyle County Airport, and the helicopter visit turned into an event for the whole school to see.
