George Scott Strickland, 81, died November 9, 2021, in Danville. Born May 10, 1940, in Muskegon, Michigan. He is the son of the late Dean Hawthorn and Fay Elaine Strickland. On July 4, 1960, he had his first date and first kiss on the Ferris wheel with his wife the late Patricia Strickland. He loved working outside in the yard and always had some type of project in the works. Scott liked to travel across the U.S. After retirement he worked at a Fitness Center in his neighborhood where he and his friends and neighbors would share the latest gossip.
Scott is survived by his two daughters, Rebecca (Matt Coleman) Kohlhaas of Bowling Green, and Jennifer (Byron Bradley) Strickland of Danville; three grandchildren, Jalynn Strickland, Jerome McClindon, Jr., and Charlotte Coleman; a brother, Dale (Lori) Strickland of Fairport, Ohio; and a brother-in-law, Jim (Claire) Henderson of Concord, New Hampshire.
A gathering of friends will be held 5- 7 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2021, at Stith Funeral Home in Danville. Memorial donations are suggested to the American Cancer Society. The online guestbook and Hugs from Home program are available at www.stithcares.com
