Accident on the Danville bypass resulted in injuries

On Tuesday at approximately 3:20pm, Danville Police responded to the area of Belinda Boulevard and the Danville Bypass for reports of an injury traffic collision.  Danville City Fire and Boyle County EMS also responded to assist.

A 2005 Ford Freestar, driven by J. Reed, 89, of Danville, was traveling southbound on Belinda Boulevard when she tried to cross the Danville Bypass and was struck by a 2003 Dodge Ram, driven by Joseph Knoll, 22, of Montana, who was traveling westbound on the Danville Bypass.  As a result of this collision, a 2015 Chevrolet Traverse, driven by Melissa Valade, 36, of Junction City, who was traveling eastbound on the Danville Bypass, was struck and damaged by flying debris.

Reed was treated on scene and taken to the helipad where she was airlifted to the University of Kentucky Medical Center via AirEvac helicopter.  The extent of her injuries was not known at the time of this press release.

A passenger in the Dodge truck, Nathan Hasty, 38, of Junction City, was treated on scene and transported via ground ambulance to Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.  The extent of his injuries was not known at the time of this release.

The westbound lanes of the Danville Bypass were shut down for over one hour while emergency crews processed the scene.

Officers Todd Davis and Daniel Grigsby are handling the investigation.
