St. Asaph Chapter, DAR, presented the Excellence in Historic Preservation Award to Fox Spoonamore. Mr. Spoonamore’s preservation of the miles of rock fences on his Boyle County farm qualifies him as being one of Boyle County’s preeminent preservationists. The art of dry-laid wall fences is known and practiced by very few people these days. But Mr. Spoonamore repairs his fences yearly and acquires the limestone when needed at great expense of time and money. The fences he has preserved are a vital part of our Kentucky heritage. Kentucky has more miles of rock fences than any other state in the country. We honor him and thank him for his knowledge of and faithfulness to the historic treasures in his care.
