Our featured pets are Finn and Snowflake, two super cute pups who are ready for a fresh start this week.

Pretty Snowflake came in as a stray, and bless her sweet heart; she appears to recently have had puppies. Now, Snowflake is with us looking for her new home.

Snowflake is around a year old and has a small and slight frame. Her white fur is flecked with black on her ears and face, giving her an almost freckled appearance. Although young, she is eager to please and already knows the ‘sit’ command. She will take a treat gently from you and happily wait for more! When presented with a treat-filled toy, Snowflake looked at it with wonder first, before sniffing, licking, and finally settling in to conquer the Kong! When she’s not snacking on treats and playing with toys, she wants to snuggle, getting as close as possible to any human willing to give pets.

The first thing you notice about Finn is his good looks, and then you will see his excitement to meet you! Finn is a graduate of our Mutts with Manners training program, where he was paired with an inmate at Northpoint Training Center and completed a 6–8-week dog training program. He learned basic obedience, crate training, and potty training during that time. Finn also does well on a leash, stays next to, and pays close attention to his human.

Finn was adopted and returned because although well-trained, he wasn’t a fan of the small kids and other pets in the home. Therefore fun Finn requests that he’s the only dog in an adult-only house – trust him, he’s got plenty of love to give! In addition, he is very active and is extremely high energy. He will make a great pet for a family who will continue his training (sit, stay, etc.) and understand that he needs plenty of exercise daily for his body and brain.

Both dogs will be fixed, vaccinated, and microchipped before going home. Thanks to the volunteers who joined us for an outdoor cat shelter building clinic on Saturday, January 22. Along with DBCHS’s Community Cat Program Trap/Neuter/Vaccinate/Return to Outdoor Home CoordinatorCody Czajkowskithey built six outdoor cat shelters and distributed them to folks who care for community cats in Danville-Boyle County.
