Richard “Dick” Douglas, 94, of Moreland passed away at his residence on Friday, February 4, 2022. Born September 22, 1927, he was the son of the late Josh and Emma Ellen Grider Douglas. He had been the owner and operator of Douglas Plumbing, Heating and Air for many years and was also a building contractor. Dick was a US Army WWII veteran. He was a member of Bowen Free Methodist Church. One of Dick’s greatest accomplishments was in 1980 his beloved Bowen Methodist Church was struck by lighting and burned down. Bowen Church was where he was saved on March 17, 1948. The church was very dear to his heart and under his leadership the church was rebuilt in two months and ready for services to continue. Dick is survived by three daughters: Karen Sue Douglas of Nicholasville, Connie Douglas Wilson of Stanford, and Vicky (Ed) Parker of Moreland; grandchildren: 9 grandchildren: Che Douglas, Chad (Jennifer) Lanham, Nici (Jimmy) Lowe, Ethan (Kayla) Wilson, Levi (Leslie) Gatliff, Isaiah (Michelle) Gatliff, Hannah (Matt) Ruckel, Jesse (Katie) Gatliff, and Myles (Jennifer) Parker; and 20 great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Ansel and Josh Douglas and sisters: Elizabeth Moser, Virginia Carmickle, and an infant sister, Lucille. Visitation is 11am-1pm, Thursday at Bowen Free Methodist Church. A Funeral Service will follow at 1pm with Pastor Bob Ritter officiating. Burial is in Danville Memorial Gardens with Military Honors.
