In his February 24 letter to the Advocate-Messenger Eben Henson claimed, “Many on the left claim the January 6 riot at the Capital was an insurrection”. “It appears that the attempt to take down a sitting elected President by a political opponent by use of the DOJ, FBI, and a complicit media was the REAL Insurrection.”
Actually the January 06, 2021 attack on the Capitol Building was an armed insurrection that resulted in four deaths and 147 wounded Capitol Police Officers. And there is no evidence whatsoever for Henson’s other claims.
In September 2021, Special Counsel John Durham charged Michael Sussman, an attorney, with lying to the FBI about his ties to the Clinton campaign, when he provided the bureau with a tip about possibly suspicious Internet traffic between the Trump organization and Alfa Bank, a prominent Russian bank. Sussman pleaded not guilty.
In February 2017 Sussman provided additional evidence of potentially suspicious Internet traffic, this time involving Russian-made mobile phones, to the CIA. Durham described this evidence as “pertaining to Trump Tower, Donald Trump’s New York City apartment building, [and] the [Executive Office of the President]…” and characterized Sussman as acting on behalf of the Clinton campaign at that time.
The impression that many readers might take from that formulation of words is that this Internet traffic data related to the Executive Office of the President during Trump’s presidency. This would explain, for example, Trump’s claim that Clinton and others had “[spied] on a president of the United States, even while in office,” and his Feb. 13 exclamation that “THEY SPIED ON THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES!”
In fact, according to Sussman, the data he provided to the CIA in 2017 related to the period well before Trump took office: “The Special Counsel is well aware that the data provided to [the CIA] pertained only to the period of time before Mr. Trump took office, when Barack Obama was President”
Indeed, lawyers for David Dagon, a Georgia Tech computer scientist who took part in the analysis of the data presented to the CIA in February 2017, told the New York Times: “What Trump and some news outlets are saying is wrong…The cyber security researchers were investigating malware in the White House, not spying on the Trump campaign, and to our knowledge, all of the data they used was non-private DNS data from the time before Trump took office.
