Danville Board hears construction update

On Monday, the Danville Independent Schools Board of Education heard a construction update from John Carman of CARMAN Landscape Architecture and Ernest Dunn, Director of Facilities and Maintenance for Danville Schools. A John W. Bate Middle School sixth grader was recognized for serving as a legislative page at the state capitol, and two staff members were also recognized. Additionally, the job opening for principal of JWBMS has been posted on the Danville Schools website, danvilleschools.net.

The baseball/soccer press box and concessions construction project is coming along, with work in progress on its siding, stairs, deck and other features. Anchor Plaza, which will be an outdoor learning space outside of Danville High School, featuring a 14,000-pound anchor donated to Danville Schools, is also underway. So far, the anchor has been sandblasted and it’s being primed for students to paint.

The board meeting took place at JWBMS, and a student and two staff members from the school were recognized by the board and Interim Principal Angie Barnes. Sixth grader Ella Bottom was celebrated for being selected to represent Danville Schools as a Family Resource and Youth Services Centers Page during the 2022 Legislative Session. On FRYSC Page Day, Feb. 23, she visited the State Capitol as Senator Rick Gilder’s page.
