With regret and appreciation, the Great American Brass Band Festival Board of Directors announces that Missy Angolia will be resigning as the Executive Director of the Festival and will be transitioning to a position as Membership and Event Coordinator for Kentuckians For Better Transportation. Angolia will remain involved with the festival to ensure a smooth transition during the 32nd annual event.

Angolia served as the Festival Alcohol Manager in 2018, became Assistant Director in 2019, and was promoted to Executive Director in 2020. During her time at GABBF the pandemic changed how the Festival was able to operate. After several rescheduling attempts the event was canceled in 2020, however, Angolia was able to produce a scaled-down event in 2021 and continues to work towards normalcy for the 2022 festival. During her time she has helped usher in new and active board members, built new partnerships and maintained long-term relationships within the community, and helped the festival survive during the last two years, alone a monumental undertaking.

“While I am sad that I will be leaving the Festival fully in June, I am excited to continue to grow in my new position at KBT,” Angolia said. “ I wanted to be sure that I was able to stay involved as the festival director, with assistance, through this year’s festival, and then can assist with the transition to the next director. That was very important to me with this career move, and I am grateful that KBT is allowing me to do so.”

“As a volunteer for many years and most recently as the executive director of the festival, Missy has been one of its most valuable contributors, ” said Board Chair Tom Tye. “ We are very pleased and hope that she will continue in other roles for future festivals, and wish her terrific success in her new career.”

The Board of Directors will post the Executive Director position soon. Individuals interested in applying for the position can also email their resume to info@gabbf.org
