Pet of the Week – 3/28/22
Published 7:00 am Monday, March 28, 2022
Our featured pets are Bella and Sarah, two pups who grew up in an unfortunate environment where they spent most of their time locked in a crate together. Despite that, they have incredibly sweet personalities!
Bella is a trusting, loving, and silly two-year-old mixed-breed dog, and although she doesn’t quite understand ‘sit’ yet, she is willing to try and learn it for a treat. Bella has a case of happy tail – she wags it all the time! Bella hung out in the office one afternoon and enjoyed sniffing all the things and exploring every inch of the room, her tail going back and forth nonstop. Did I mention that she likes treats?!
Sarah is a one-and-a-half-year-old mixed-breed dog with a Beagle-ish voice and wiry whiskers that give her the cutest look! Sarah loves being loved, but it’s hard to tell when she is in her kennel: she will bark and jump when she sees strangers. You really need to meet this girl outside of her kennel, and you will find out that Sarah is a friendly, fun, and energetic pup who will make a fine companion for an active person or family.\

If you are interested in adopting, please bring your family for a meet and greet Monday – Friday between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. Before coming out, give us a call to ensure the dog you’re interested in is still available and complete an online application to save time: https://bit.ly/2Qo4EfE. Can’t make it to the shelter during open hours? Email me at firstname.lastname@example.org to make an appointment.
Doggie Dash is back! Join us on April 30 for a fun Derby-themed 5K Run with a 3K dog walk option to benefit the Danville-Boyle County Humane Society (DBCHS). All proceeds go towards the shelter’s operational fund and promote the humane treatment of companion animals through sheltering, adoption, community engagement, and spay/neuter programs.
All dogs are welcome as long as they are on a fixed leash, up-to-date on vaccines, and are dog, people, and child-friendly. No retractable leashes, please. DBCHS will also be out with adoptable dogs of our own, so if you don’t have a furry friend come to find your new running buddy! Due to the booked schedule of Millennium Park, we will make this happen rain or shine but will follow proper storm precautions.
All runners will receive a t-shirt with their registration. Register by April 11th to guarantee your size. Plus, there are awards! Overall first-place finishers and first-place finishers in each age category for the 5K race will receive a prize. All registered dogs will receive a gift, too. Register at runsignup.com/Race/KY/
The Danville-Boyle County Humane Society is a non-profit 501 (c)(3) established in 1972 that promotes the humane treatment of animals through compassionate care, engagement, and support.
