Pets of the Week – April 4, 2022

Published 7:00 am Monday, April 4, 2022

Our featured pets are Roxy and Blackjack.

Roxy is a darling little mixed breed pup of about two-and-a-half years old. Roxy has been with the humane society for a long while, looking for the right home, and we’re not giving up on her now.

Why has she been waiting so long? We’re looking for a specific fit for her, with someone who is patient and passionate about bringing her out of her shell. See, Roxy is shy and cautious at first, but she really loves people once she gets to know them.

We really love little Roxy, too. She has the best face, kinda funny and goofy. Her body is low to the ground, and she has a waddling walk. Roxy has lots of energy; she’s silly, excitable, and adores belly rubs. It might take multiple visits to the shelter to get her to open up and trust you, but we have the time if you do!

Blackjack is a solid black mixed-breed dog just under a year old. He’s got perky ears and a positive attitude, ready for anything that comes his way. This young dog will benefit from training, and you can tell he is smart enough to learn quickly. He learned how to sit in one short session!

Blackjack is food motivated and will take his treats from you gently. When Blackjack came back from neuter surgery, he was a very good boy and didn’t mess with his stitches at all. Blackjack is looking for a home that will give him time and space to be a puppy while he learns the ropes in his new digs. If you choose Blackjack as your new best friend, you’ll be a winner!

Both dogs are fixed, vaccinated, microchipped, and ready to go home. If you are interested in adopting, please bring your family for a meet and greet Monday – Friday between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. Before coming out, give us a call to ensure the dog you’re interested in is still available, and complete an online application to save time: https://bit.ly/2Qo4EfE. Can’t make it to the shelter during open hours? Email me at karikuh@dbchs.org to make an appointment.
