Marcus Wayne Young, 70

Marcus Wayne Young, 70, of Danville passed away Monday, May 2, 2022. Born in Boyle County on November 11, 1951, he was the son of Edna Carey and the late Edward Coffman. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Nan Farmer Young. He was a 1969 graduate of Danville High School and attended Western Kentucky University. Wayne served as an MP in the United States Army during the Vietnam War where he was stationed at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington D.C. He had worked at ATR and Baywest and had retired from Amcore. He was a member of First Baptist Church Danville. Wayne enjoyed hunting and playing Rook and Euchre, but his greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren and being their Uber driver. In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by a son, Ian Young, a daughter, Blaine Young, and four grandchildren: Kira, Jonah, Landry, and Knox Young, all of Danville. Preceding him in death is his daughter-in-law, Denise Young. Funeral services will be 2 PM Monday, May 9, 2022 at Third Street Methodist Church Danville with Thomas Walters and Rob Kernodle officiating. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church from 5-9 PM Sunday, May 8, 2022. Pallbearers will be John Webster, Ben Webster, Brian Webster, Brad Webster, Ian Young, and David Minor. Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Jeffries, Lou Lewis, Tommy Minor, and Chris Minor. In lieu flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Heritage Hospice.
