During Atmos Energy’s 2009 rate case, the Kentucky Public Service Commission approved a Pipeline Replacement Program (PRP) for its service territory in Kentucky.  This program enables Atmos Energy to replace bare steel and other aging infrastructure.

“Atmos Energy is committed to the safety and reliability of our system.  It is our number one priority,” said Jimmy Dale Smith, Danville’s Operations Supervisor, adding “We are beginning another section of pipe replacement project this week.”

The project will replace bare steel pipe with new High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) pipe. On May 4, Atmos Energy began replacing 3,877 feet of bare steel with new pipe. They will also replace 27 service lines, which are the lines from the street to the meter. They will work with individual homeowners as the project progresses.
