Fred Russell “Freddie” Worthington, 82, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 10, 2022, at his home of 43-years, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Danville on October 22, 1939, to Reece Edgar and Dorothy Mae Daley Worthington. Fred was a graduate of Junction City High School. He was employed by Genesco INC, Danville and IBM/LexMark where he eventually retired from LexMark after 33 years of devoted service. During his retirement, he worked part-time at Best Buy, where he was frequently awarded “employee of the month”. Fred also worked for the Boyle County School District as a bus driver, with his wife who was his bus monitor. They both retired from the school district in 2020. He attended Calvary Baptist Church. Fred adored his family and was active in his children’s and grandchildren’s lives, being involved to his fullest ability. Fred never passed up a good deal; he and his wife enjoyed shopping at Goodwill, particularly when they traveled. He was a dedicated UK fan, loved playing golf, enjoyed horse racing, and was proud of his garden, especially his home-grown tomatoes and his fruit trees. He was a “man of the earth” and the definition of a “do-it-yourself” kind of guy.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Michael Troy Campbell.

Fred is survived by his beloved wife, Sondra Hainsworth Worthington, of 62 years; his children, Shawn Rene Campbell and her fiancĂ©, Tommy Word of Danville; Jennifer Jay Carlton and her husband, Devin Carlton of Stanford; Frederick Nicholas “Nick” Worthington and his wife, Amelia Worthington of Louisville; his grandchildren, Jaylee Elizabeth Carlton, Devin Reece Carlton, Lena Mae Worthington, Kyah Rue Worthington, Mila Ann Worthington, and a host of extended family and friends that he loved dearly.
