Local students win events at track and field meet

Timberlynn Yeast of Mercer County won three individual events Friday in the Central Kentucky Conference Championships track and field meet.

Yeast won the girls 100-, 200- and 400-meter runs at Alvis Johnson Field in the CKC meet, one of the oldest meets in the state and the last meet before regional competition for most area teams.

The Mercer boys made off with the team title on their home track, winning nine of 18 events and outscoring runner-up Woodford County 161-117.

Beau Brown (100, 200) and Jalen Lukitsch (110 hurdles, 300 hurdles) won two individual events each for the Mercer boys, who also won two of the four relays.

Boyle County thrower Andrew Hardwick earned his first victory of the season in the boys discus, and Boyle finished fifth out of 15 boys teams.

Abigail Bastin of Lincoln County broke her own school record in the girls 1,600, winning in 5:07.61.

Yeast set a Mercer school record in the girls 100 with a time of 12.45 seconds.

The Mercer girls finished fourth out of 15 teams.
