Judge Hunt shares sorrow on passing of Mike Wilder

Boyle County Judge Executive Howard P. Hunt, III has ordered all flags to fly at half-staff on Thursday, June 9 in honor of Mike Wilder, who passed away on Saturday. Flags will fly at half-staff from sunrise to sunset to memorialize Mike Wilder, who served Boyle County as deputy coroner since 1972, and as Emergency Management director since 2014. Wilder was running for county coroner in the 2022 election.

“Mike was a true public servant who served our  community and citizens in many of our most vulnerable times,” said Judge Executive  Howard Hunt.  

“Mike Wilder was known across the Commonwealth as the face and the voice of Emergency Response in Boyle County. Mike worked diligently to make all Boyle  Countians aware of the Emergency Response System, “Code Red” so that every citizen  was given ample warning in the event of a storm or significant emergency,” said Judge  Hunt.

Hunt added, “In honor of Mike’s service, I am ordering flags to fly at half-staff  on Thursday. Furthermore, I authorize two hours of bereavement time for county employees who wish to attend Mike’s funeral.” 

Many departments of Boyle County Government will operate on a limited staff  between 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 pm on Thursday. The Boyle County Clerk’s Office  will close from 10:30 to 12:30; the Records Department will remain open.
