Marcy Dianne (Moschell) Brown, 74, passed away June 6, 2022, in Danville, Kentucky. Born August 3, 1947, in Jefferson, Ohio, she was the daughter of Robert Harry Moschell and Reba Lucille (Carr) Moschell. She was a 1965 graduate of Jefferson Area High School. During her time at Ohio Northern University, from which she graduated in 1969, she taught piano and studied in Spain. After graduating from Northern, she taught Spanish and English for one year in Port Clinton, Ohio, before moving to Madison, Wisconsin, where Donald Harvey Brown, whom she had met in high school, was earning a Ph.D. at the University of Wisconsin. The couple married on August 21, 1971, and moved to Danville, Kentucky in August 1973, at which time Marcy began teaching Spanish and English at Danville High School, which she did for 28 years, also earning a Master’s in Education from the University of Kentucky later in the
1970s. During summer breaks in the 1980s and ’90s, Marcy and Don spent many happy vacations with family at their cabin in Palmer Rapids, Ontario, Canada. Marcy, or “Senora Pardo (Brown),” as she was known to her students, enjoyed working with hundreds of students during her career. In retirement, she enjoyed reading literary fiction and mysteries and watching Spanish-language drama series. She was an active participant on Duolingo and had made numerous suggestions for improvement that Duolingo accepted. Marcy had also gathered more than 1,000 followers on the site. Don taught at Centre College.
She is survived by her husband, Donald Brown, two sisters, Wendy Moschell Leggett (Joe), Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and Linda Moschell, Seattle, Washington, and a brother-in-law, Kenneth Brown, Rock Creek, Ohio. Marcy was also a beloved aunt to 4 nieces and a nephew.
