Jewel Elizabeth Banks Day, 75, died Thursday, June 23, 2022, in Harrodsburg. She was born October 9, 1946, in Whitesburg, Ky, to the late Bert and Catherine Banks. Jewel was a graduate of Whitesburg High School. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, reading, listening to music, and spending time with her family. She is predeceased by her husband, Bobby Ray Day; a brother, James Bert Banks; sister, Sylvia Catherine Sturgill; son-in-law, Charles DeRousse; and a sister-in-law Ruby Jean Howard. Jewel is survived by a daughter, Lisa D. DeRousse and a special daughter Lisa Douglas; two grandchildren, Amanda Lynn and Tiffany McCowan; two great-grandchildren, Marley Ray Hanekom and Ian Rylee Hanekom; a sister, Mattie Evadean (Glenn) Webb of Whitesburg; a brother, David (Millie) Banks; and two brother-in-law’s, John Q. Day of Whitesburg and Ercel Sturgill of Fairborn, OH. Visitation will be 11 am – 1 pm, Tuesday, June 28, 2022, at Stith Funeral Home, Danville with funeral service to follow at 1 pm. Jim King will officiate. Burial will be at Camp Nelson National Cemetery. Donations are suggested to the Danville-Boyle County Humane Society.
