This week our featured pets are Marty the dog and Sam the cat, available for adoption through the Danville-Boyle County Humane Society (DBCHS) Home To Home™ program.

Home To Home™ is a unique, direct-to-adopter program for people looking to re-home their animals. In just a few simple steps, pets can find a loving new home without ever seeing the inside of a shelter.

Home To Home™ is free to use for both owners and adopters and gives animals needing a new home the best of both worlds: their current family can find the best fit, and their adopter can learn all about their personality and preferences first-hand. It’s a win-win for all!

If you are worried about what happens to animals adopted without a fee, don’t be! According to several studies over the last decade, people who adopt during free or fee-waived events love and care for their dog or cat as much as those who pay an adoption fee. Marty is a loving three-year-old dog that is looking for his forever home. This coonhound does well with other dogs and children and has been house-trained. Marty is very energetic and loves to run. He loves the creek. He is a great dog!

Sam is a very loving and cuddly tabby cat. This six-year-old feline spends most of his day lounging around and sleeping by the window. Check out how relaxed and snuggly he looks in his picture!

When we bring a dog or cat into our family, we intend for it to be “furever.” But things happen, and there are times when rehoming a pet may well be the most compassionate and responsible thing to do.

Home To Home reduces animals’ anxiety by keeping them in a home, plus it gives potential adopters a chance to learn more about the animals directly from the people who know them the best.
