Carolyn Camenisch Hughes, long time resident of Newport News, Virginia, passed away at her home in Norfolk on June 18, 2022. Carolyn was born in Stanford, Kentucky on June 6,1946, daughter of the late Dorothy and Bernard Camenisch. She is survived by her husband of 49 years, John W. Hughes, her son Jeffrey B. Hughes and her sister, Susan C. Eriksson. Carolyn served her community as librarian in Portsmouth and Newport News libraries and as an active member of civic, neighborhood, and political organizations as well as her church. A Memorial Service in Stanford is being planned for the fall.
